The Lester S. Levy Sheet Music Collection at Johns Hopkins University has made sheet music for the “Yale Schottische,” composed by J. Edward Geary, and published by Geary Brothers, 150 Orange St., available for viewing on its website. According to the University, the music dates to 1893. The music is reproduced below:
The cover indicates that it is “[d]edicated to the Yale University Football Association.” The members of said football team appear to be pictured on the cover of the sheet music in their letter sweaters.
The sheet music includes detailed instructions for the eponymous dance. I have enlarged the dance instructions below for easier reading:
